A discussion on identifyingand encouraging micro, small, medium and large entrepreneurs, held under the chairmanship of Jaffna District Government Agent Mr. Maruthalingam Pradeeban, took place on 06.03.2026 at 10:00 AM in the Jaffna District Secretariat auditorium, ahead of the SLCBC 2nd Consecutive Regional Excellence Award event.
In his remarks at the discussion, the District Government Agent said this event is an effort to give important recognition to the district’s cottage industry sector. He added that the activities of the Sri Lanka – Canada Businesses Council to encourage entrepreneurs and honor their achievements with awards being conducted in the Jaffna district are commendable.
He also pointed out that such award events are not just for receiving trophies, but serve as motivation for entrepreneurs to improve the quality of their products. He emphasized that every producer must strive to raise their production standards to a higher level.
He said the main purpose of this discussion was to encourage entrepreneurs to enhance their product quality, and that it is a matter of pride that producers from the Jaffna district have achieved high honors in various industry competitions. He added that these awards are given in recognition of those achievements and serve as a testament to the dedication of the officials involved.
